The world has never seen a workable, mass-produced, electric-powered car capable of driving more than 100 miles on a single charge…until now.

That has changed with Tesla Motors’ introduction of their first electric-powered car, The Tesla Roadster, with high-performance acceleration, able to go from zero to 60 mph in around four seconds.

Tesla Motors selected PCGCampbell to launch this revolutionary vehicle.

goals actions results
  • Introduce Tesla Motors and the Tesla Roadster, and establish Tesla Motors as an innovative builder of high-quality, exotic performance electric cars through the media.

  • Portray Chief Executive Officer Martin Eberhard as a visionary who is working to make the world better.

  • PCGCampbell has worked to position Tesla Motors as a car company, not an alternative fuel vehicle company. This strategy has paid off, as USA Weekend (circulation: 23.3 million) featured the Tesla Roadster alongside “green” vehicles from Mercedes Benz, Lexus and Saturn.
  • A launch event, (held shortly after the release of the film “Who Killed the Electric Car?”) allowed select media mingled with potential customers and Tesla representatives;
  • Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the world’s most prestigious classic car show, allowed the first opportunities for select media to drive the prototype Tesla Roadster

  • The media have been enthralled with Tesla Motors and the launch of the Tesla Roadster, with coverage including network news, major newspapers, automotive magazines, local radio and the Internet. BurrellesLuce tabulated the number of print media impressions for Tesla Motors in July 2006 alone at just over 74 million impressions.

  • Forbes.com, in its “Best Cars 2006” article by Dan Lienert posted on Dec. 11, called the Tesla Roadster “perhaps this year’s most-discussed car,” adding that “people across the globe are talking about the new Roadster.” The Robb Report joined in, placing the Tesla Roadster on its October 2006 cover under the headline, “The Best of 2007.”
