Nearly 6,000 teenagers die annually in automobile crashes in the United States.

Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) is a national safety initiative targeted at improving teen driving through four key skills shown to be significant in preventing crashes injuries and fatalities - hazard recognition, vehicle handling, space management and speed management.

Utilize on-line learning, high school programs and hands-on driving events to connect teens, parents and educators with useful safe driving information and tools resulting in improved teen driving behavior.

Position Ford Motor Company as a national leader in safety innovation garnering positive media impressions.

Serve as DSFL’s PR partner to generate newsworthy stories by creating press materials and outreach to local and national media.

Supervise and consult on implementation of school programs, teen driving clinics and state grants

Continually update DSFL website to include revised on-line learning curriculum, resource toolkit and other resources to increase length of time spent on the site. 

Request that a link to the DSFL website be placed on media and relevant teen websites to drive traffic. 

In 2007, DSFL received almost 600,0000 media impressions, impacting 35 television stations, 53 radio stations and 20 radio networks as well as 61 high school newspapers. DSFL was featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW and Univision stations across the country.

DSFL reached across the entire country with 5 teen driver safety clinics, sponsorship of 19 organizations and displays and/or support materials at 17 conferences and conventions.

The website, drivingskillsforlife.com, generated more than 24,000,000 hits and prompted more than 1,200 orders for free printed materials.
