PCGCampbell wins IABC Detroit Award of Excellence for The Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home

DEARBORN, Mich. - PCGCampbell’s work on the Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home event in 2007 earned a first place, “Award of Excellence,” by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Detroit Chapter during their Renaissance Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 19th.

The Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home event marked the 75th anniversary of Ford’s 1932 Deuce Coupe and the Flathead V8 Engine, two automotive icons.  The event took place in Dearborn, Michigan on August 9-12, 2007. 

The IABC Detroit Renaissance Awards program recognizes the brightest and best in communication within all functional areas, including strategic communication management, corporate communications, public and media relations, marketing, writing, design, advertising and multimedia.

The Deuce  @ 75: Bringing It Home event won an Award of Excellence in the category of Special Events - $5,000 plus.  This year, the award categories were grouped into three divisions with nearly 51 individual categories ranging from communications management programs, to writing to design in electronic and printed form.
 
The Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home event attracted over 700 attendees and 400 vehicles, and attendees came from throughout the U.S. and Canada. Keith Crain, the executive advisor for the event, truly captured the spirit of the weekend by saying, “This event was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to recognize the 75th anniversary of an American classic and cultural icon.” 

PCGCampbell’s public relations outreach successfully garnered a total of 34 media placements over the weekend, including 10 newspaper articles, five magazine articles, 15 radio spots, six TV spots and three web-site articles.  Highlights included WXYZ Channel 7 broadcasting live from Ford World Headquarters while the Deuces drove into the parking lot.  The footage also was used the following weekend in Channel 7’s coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise.  In addition, a production company shot footage of the Deuces to be used in a film about Detroit during the 1930s. More than $17,000 of event proceeds was donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
