PCGCAMPBELL WINS AUTOMOTIVE PUBLIC RELATIONS COUNCIL AWARD
DEARBORN, Mich, November 5, 2008 – PCGCampbell’s work on the Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home event earned yet another industry award, the Automotive Public Relations Council (APRC) Silver Award in the Special Events/Observances category.
The Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home event marked the 75th anniversary of Ford’s 1932 Deuce Coupe and the Flathead V8 Engine, two automotive icons. The event took place in Dearborn, Michigan on August 9-12, 2007.
The Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home committee, with financial backing from Ford Motor Company, AutoWeek magazine, The Early V8 club and the Michigan Hot Rod Association, retained PCGCampbell to organize and execute a four-day event for Deuce and Flathead Ford V8 engine enthusiasts.
The Deuce Coupe and the Ford Flathead V8 spawned the customized car craze (now a $3.6 billion annual industry) and hot-rod culture in California in the 1940s, twin phenomenon that entered the pop-culture mainstream in the 1960s with the first rock concept album, the Beach Boys’ “Little Deuce Coupe,” and in the 1970s with its starring role in “American Graffiti.”
The Deuce @ 75: Bringing It Home event attracted over 700 attendees and 400 vehicles, and attendees came from throughout the U.S. and Canada.
PCGCampbell’s public relations outreach successfully garnered a total of 34 media placements over the weekend, including 10 newspaper articles, five magazine articles, 15 radio spots, six TV spots and three web-site articles.
In addition, more than $17,000 of event proceeds was donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
