
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY HONORS BARBARA MCALLISTER
DEARBORN, Mich. -The American Cancer Society has named PCGCampbell Account Director Barbara McAllister the winner of the 2008 Cowger Leadership Award, it was announced Saturday at the organization’s sixth annual Cattle Baron’s Ball at the Michigan State Fairgrounds in Detroit. The award represents the highest volunteer honor the American Cancer Society, Great Lakes Division, bestows on a member of the community.
The Cowger Leadership Award recognizes those who consistently exhibit outstanding volunteer leadership in support of the Cattle Baron’s Ball and the society’s lifesaving mission. McAllister, a longtime member of the Cattle Baron’s Ball Marketing and PR Committee, received the nomination from fellow committee members and chairpersons for her inspired leadership and exemplary vision.
The Cowger Leadership Award is named after Gary and Kay Cowger, the Detroit-area’s first Cattle Baron’s Ball executive chairpersons at the inaugural 2004 event.
First launched in Texas in the 1970s, the American Cancer Society Cattle Baron's Ball brings a dash of cowboy spirit to the traditional black-tie circuit and has proven to be a successful fundraising model, raising millions of dollars nationwide each year.
McAllister has been in the meetings and events industry for the last 15 years. She joined PCGCampbell in 2001 and is an Account Director responsible for managing a Corporate Social Responsibility team focused on meetings, special events and conference planning for Ford Motor Company.
McAllister, a Madison Heights resident, has a B.A from Wayne State University in Detroit.
