PCGCampbell public relations (PR) veteran Bill Jamieson was recently recognized by PRWeek Magazine as one of the top U.S. PR professionals of the year.
Jamieson received the honor as a result of his selection as a finalist in the magazine’s annual PRWeek Awards competition in the category of PR Professional of the Year. The awards, which are the world's leading awards program for the public relations industry, highlight and showcase the best PR campaigns, people, and companies. All finalists were honored during an Awards Luncheon on November 8, 2007 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
With over 40 years experience in the industry, Jamieson brings a sense of passion and creativity to public relations. As an Account Director for PCGCampbell, Jamieson works with varied clients and is responsible for several media campaigns each year.
Jamieson leads the media relations efforts for Ford Motor Company Fund’s Driving Skills for Life campaign, and it was work on that account for which he was honored. His temerity and tenacity have led to more than 24,500,000 media impressions for the program.
“To be recognized by your peers to this degree is a singular honor. It's an aspirational honor,” said PCGCampbell CCO Greg Shea. “How come? Because it's your peers who understand what it takes to be this good. So in those rare instances when an honor like this comes along, it's the best kind of professional validation.”
Jamieson’s experience comes from years as a beat reporter for the sports, features, and news sections of both the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News. He crossed over to the public relations side of things when he became Public Relations Director of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings, a position he held for 14 years. The Professional Hockey Writers’ Association named him National Hockey League Public Relations Director of the Year seven times throughout his career.
Jamieson resides in Grosse Pointe, and is also an Ordained Deacon in the Archdiocese of Detroit. He performs numerous charitable activities both within the ministry, as well as outside the ministry.
